The Berici Hills extend south of Vicenza and strongly characterize the landscape of the south of the province.

Rich in rural atmospheres and in agricultural and food-and-wine traditions, you can find several villages where time seems to stand still. On their first layers (the Monte Berico) is the famous shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary, with its Piazzale della Vittoria which offers a splendid view of the city and province.

Continuing on the way back, always fresh and never too steep, there are beautiful villas, parks, gardens and nature.
It is part of the Berica Area also the small and beautiful Lake Fimon, rich in vegetation characteristics and natural habitat of many animal species, including numerous fish. A nice walk, recently rearranged and made easier, runs around the perimeter of the lake, and there are places where you can have a lunch or snack while enjoying a very impressive sight.

Costozza, situated at the foot of a slope of Berici, is a magical place, full of beautiful Villas and in a beautiful location. It  is famous for "ventiducts", which are conducted at a constant temperature of air escaping from the nearby caves. They were exploited since from the sixteenth century to convey in the Villas of noble warm air in winter and cool in summer. Those who visit the famous Villa Da Schio, which is discussed in the section "Venetian Villas" , might have ... some surprises !!
