Villa Contarini is located in Piazzola sul Brenta, just 25 km from Vicenza, 20 km from Padua, and also a short distance from the walled city of Cittadella and from Bassano del Grappa

 
We are facing one of the most sumptous examples of existing Venetian Villa. The grandeur and magnificence of the complex may have rivaled perhaps only with the Villa Nazionale Pisani in Strà.
 
It has ancient origins, and was purchased by the prosecutor of the Republic of Venice Marco Contarini, who turned it into a sort of realm.  Here, Contarini received important public figures of the time, and gave great receptions and parties.
 
Currently it hosts conferences and cultural events.
 
Visitable only with the internal guide, it has many beautiful rooms, including the  "Music Room" famous for its perfect acoustics, the Ballroom (with rich decorations) and the unique gallery of Shells (so called because the walls, floor and ceiling are entirely covered of shells).
 
Important part of the charm of this villa is the magnificent park (among the most important of Veneto), appreciated in the summer as a place of recreation, walking and contemplation.  

There are many elements of charm in  the park: the fish ponds, the ice, the lake and the many tree-lined streets...  the park is enjoyable in every season.
